Listening to a bit of Cubs talk radio after the game. Everyone. And I mean everyone who called, and the hosts, all said exactly what I just said. Fine. Use Marmol, but not here, and when he doesn't have his stuff, yank him. The hosts of the show were quick to point out that the Cubs are most likely trying to showcase Marmol in order to shop him for a trade. Well, guess what? Not only did Marmol have 0 trade value before this game, but now, you'd be lucky to get a team to take him for some rusty nails, and a dead penguin.
This is NOT Marmol's fault however. He is trying his hardest. He just stinks now, especially in the 9th. This is Dale Sveums fault. Seriously Dale? How could let down the other 8 players on that field, who came so close to grinding out a sweep, by bringing in, and KEEPING in Carlos Marmol after you KNOW he doesn't have his stuff and is about to get rocket hard? Your job is to win baseball games Dale. Period. You're an idiot, you should be fired, and I understand fully why Robin Yount shot you.
Now, to give a voice to those diehard fans, who's Father's day was ruined by Carlos and Dale. Here are some twitter rants about yesterday's fiasco.
Carlos Marmol ruins Father's Day for the #Cubs, allowing four runs in the bottom of the 9th to send the Cubs to a 4-3 loss.— Between the Vines (@CubsStories) June 16, 2013
sveum was just saying he hoped not to use marmol as closer again. i mean, he had no one else in his pen?!?

This is 100% on Dale Sveum. He knows Marmol can't close and he leaves him out there. I'm not even (cont) pic.twitter.com/yGmGTaJLuH

I don't always scream YOU RUINED FATHERS DAY.....but when I do, Carlos Marmol enters the Cubs game.
— Jill Jedd (@JillDawsonJ) June 16, 2013
Carlos Marmol is making $9.5M this year. If you wanted to feel really bad about yourself today.
— Adam Brown (@SouvenirCity) June 16, 2013
Please Lord ..don't let the Cubs put Carlos Marmol in the game .. I beg you http://t.co/e5pJpWDOhZ

I just want to take this moment to remind Carlos Marmol that ALL #Cubs fans, Baseball fans, & humans on planet earth think he should retire
— Chris Coleman (@Colemerica) June 17, 2013
I'd be entirely okay if Carlos Marmol lost his right arm in a freak accident sometime in the next day or so.

#Dale #Sveum cannot leave #Marmol in after a home run and a walk! I understand they are trying to get trade value, what happened to common ¢
— Greenberg59 (@swooner2002) June 17, 2013
Nothing Theo does will make up for being too full of himself to hire Sandberg to manage the @Cubs instead of Sveum. Are you proud now? #fool
— Andrew Avery (@aavery25) June 17, 2013
On resume: who is more guilty and more asshole, Sveum or Marmol?
— Gustavo Rodriguez (@cubbieforever) June 17, 2013
Sveum says they know marmol has trouble with the last 3 outs, but he still uses him? I hope Sveum gets hit by a bus
— John Davidson (@jjd61882) June 17, 2013
@tonyadragna Sveum is as awful as Marmol and both can leave anytime now. The sooner the better.
— Matt Loveless (@mal46227) June 17, 2013
Yes, Dale, everyone in freaking Chicago and beyond thinks you're a moron. Got anything to say to that Dale? Defend yourself!
Oh I forgot...you're a total idiot....ughh....seriously Dale? Marmol has trouble with the last 3 outs? Tell me something I've known for 2 years now. Really Dale? He doesn't have the slider he used to? Wow! I thought that it was still amazing like 4 years ago! I didn't realize that his 6.08 era was worse somehow than in 2010 when it was 2.55. God Dale, a monkey could manage this team better.
Well, off to St. Louis for me...like right now....I hope I don't get stabbed by my Airbnb host. And would it kill you to not make me look bad in enemy territory? Tonight the Cubs throw up Travis Wood, 5-5, 2.65 vs. Shelby Miller, 7-4, 2.21. Travis vs Shelby. Two of my least favorite names going at it! Go cubbies!
